Camping at Cardewlees offers a peaceful setting 20 minutes from the Lake District and Carlisle on a small family-run farm just a 15 minute walk from Dalston. Get a taste of rural life and stay in one of the cosy camping pods with unspoilt countryside views. There are two smaller pods and one larger both set in private enclosed gardens, perfect for dogs and with fire pits for toasting marshmallows! There is also a bell tent and camping pitches.

About the site

Overlooked by Carrock Flat Top, High Pike and West Fell, this family-run site is perfectly positioned between the Lake District National Park and Carlisle so you can easily enjoy both the adventures of paddleboarding and hiking, and the hustle and bustle of city life. There are three camping pods, each set in a private enclosed garden to make it safe for your canine companions to stretch their legs. All of the pods have space to sleep up to three guests but you can bring your own camp beds or a pup tent that can be pitched in the garden if you need space for four. Two camping pods are slightly smaller and have three single mattresses that form a super king size from wall to wall of the pod and the larger camping pod has two single mattresses that can be pushed together to form a double as well as a single futon. Bedding is not provided so you will need to bring your own or hire it from the site. All of the pods come with electric sockets, lighting and blinds for a comfortable stay. There is also a mini kitchen area with hot and cold running water, a kettle, toaster, microwave and a small fridge/freezer for preparing simple meals, any other cooking equipment will need to be brought with you but the site does offer cutlery and crockery for hire. Guests staying in the camping pods have access to a facility block with two toilets and a shower room. The pods have their own enclosed garden, a decking and a fire pit - the site sells wood and kindling to help you get started! Please note that BBQs, and fires are not permitted on the decking.

Shared facilities include a small but well maintained toilet block with two toilets, two urinals and a separate shower room, along with baby changing facilities and a toilet with disabled access. The pods share a toilet block that includes two toilets and a shower room. There is also a washing up area as well as charging and ice pack freezing facilities available.

An honesty shop is open during peak season and there is a Spar shop just a 15 minute walk from the site for picking up all of the essentials. The closest pub is The Blue Bell Inn just a 30 minute walk away in the village of Dalston. Here there is also a fish and chips shop and an Indian restaurant as well as, a gift shop, a Co-Op and even a cycle repair shop.
