Stay in one of these camping pods set in a quiet corner of an idyllic apple orchard, perfect for sheltering from the elements. You'll be just 15 minutes from the bustling town of Torquay at this family and dog friendly site with free farm tours, laundry facilities, wetsuit rinsing and a fire pit. The pods were handbuilt by the site and used to be used as the original chicken coops, housing the hens in the early days of the farm. They are set amongst cob nut trees to provide privacy and shelter in between each. The pods have basic heating, lighting, USB and electric sockets for an elevated-camping style getaway. The site has fairly good 4G signal. Measuring 6m x 3m, there is space to sleep up to five guests, the pods come empty so you can bring your own camp beds, sleeping bags, pillows and any other gear to make your stay comfortable. Or, you can hire a single or double camping bed or an inflatable mattress that has a mattress protector and sheet. You will still need your sleeping bag and pillow. The windows are double-glazed and have blinds or curtains to ensure a good nights sleep! Outside, there is a six-seater picnic bench with a parasol for enjoying some al fresco dining, there is also space to make a fire if you wish. For cooking, you can bring your camping stove and cooking equipment, or the site has options to hire a cooker, utensils or cooking pack to save the packing! Alternatively, there is a gastropub just a 15 minute walk away. The cooking pack comes with everything you will need to eat your meals, the utensil pack has everything you need to cook basic meals including pans and chopping boards and then you can hire a cooker with a two ring gas camping stove with a small grill and gas bottle. You will have your own, lockable welfare room with a toilet, washbasin and thermostatic mixer shower- remember your towels! There are also coat hangers and space to store your belongings, a small kitchen area with a small fridge/freezer, cleaning equipment, kettle and microwave. There is also space to wash up. All of the guests onsite has access to the laundry area with clothes airers and baskets, there is an honesty box here to help contribute to the running costs. There is also an outdoor tap with a wetsuit rinsing barrel for those who have come back from the beach. The site has low level lighting around to help you find the facilities at night, torches are provided to help too! There is also a communal fire pit and BBQ area for nights round the campfire toasting marshmallows, or stargazing! Little ones will love playing amongst the apple trees or you can simply sit at one of the benches around the site, take in the view and watch the sunset. During your stay, you can take a tour of the farm, sample some of the homemade apple juice from the small farm shop onsite or head out on a walk with your four-legged friend, with many routes on your doorstep! The site allows one well behaved dog per pod, just add this on when booking. Remember to pack a good sleeping bag, a pillow, towel, toiletries and cooking equipment if you aren't hiring it from the site.
